Mahindra Powerol bets on cleaner and bigger gensets to grow business.
Mahindra Powerol, a leader in telecom genset business, is expanding its footprint into cleaner and bigger Gensets to become a full range player as it aims to garner a billion dollars in four to five years by growing the business four fold. Gensets with higher KVA, widening the CNG range and an export push are the key pivots on which the aggressive roadmap for expansion has been planned.
Already a leader in unit volumes in India with 20% segment share, a large part of its sales come from sub-75 KVA genset range and the company has more-than-doubled its range with bigger gensets with 125 KVA, 250, 300, 400, 500, 625 KVA range thanks to its recent tie-up with Perkins.
Alternatively, it is building range of CNG gensets at the volumes end of the market from 15-25 KVA range apart from 125 KVA range unveiled in Delhi earlier this year.
Hemant Sikka, president - CPO, Powerol & Spares Business, Mahindra & Mahindra, told ET Mahindra believes in the India growth story and the pace of GDP growth at 7.5-8% and growing infrastructure activity will generate demand for power back-ups.
