Mahindra Logistics Limited, a prominent player in India's integrated logistics solutions, has marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of a 1 lakh sq. ft. extension to its existing multi-client warehouse in Nashik. Additionally, the company has announced the development of a new 3 lakh sq. ft. warehousing facility, positioning its overall warehousing capacity at an impressive 5 lakh sq. ft. in Nashik, Maharashtra. This expansion establishes the largest warehousing space offered by any service provider in Nashik, with the new facility scheduled to be operational by the end of Q3 2024.
The state-of-the-art facilities are poised to significantly enhance Mahindra Logistics' nationwide network of multi-client warehouses. Currently managing the distribution of auto components for production plants in Nasik, Igatpuri, and Mumbai, the company's existing warehouse caters to the requirements of an Auto OEM customer. The expanded facilities will cater to inbound logistics and distribution solutions for Automotive, Engineering goods, and Consumer Durables customers. Leveraging technology-enabled and automated processes, the warehouses will offer end-to-end visibility in operations. Conveniently located with easy access to key industrial and manufacturing clusters, as well as consumption markets in Nashik City, Aurangabad, Satpur, Silvasa, and others, these facilities are poised to optimize logistics operations efficiently.
In line with Mahindra Logistics sustainability standards, the facilities will incorporate measures such as the use of renewable energy, recycled construction materials, efficient liquid discharge management, and adherence to waste management requirements. Equipped with on-site solar power generation capabilities, the facilities can meet all their energy needs and are designed for solar charging for both cargo vehicles and personal mobility. An innovative feature of these facilities is the introduction of green cement flooring in the warehouse, eliminating traditional cement. The investment for the establishment of these new facilities, amounting to Rs. 100 crores, is a collaborative effort with partners, contributing to the generation of employment opportunities for over 300 individuals in the region.
Mr. Rampraveen Swaminathan, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Logistics, highlighted the strategic significance of Nashik, serving as an industrial and consumption cluster. The expansions align with the company's commitment to delivering world-class warehousing infrastructure and sustainable practices, enhancing its portfolio of integrated solutions for clients in the region. The move is in accordance with Mahindra Logistics' strategy to establish larger, world-class facilities in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, catering to the evolving needs of businesses in these regions.
