Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the use of Leo Polymer Technology for filling potholes on the Mumbai-Nashik highway, emphasizing that this innovative solution will provide long-lasting results. The technology, developed by SMC Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., incorporates fiber and is designed to withstand heavy vehicle traffic.
During an inspection of the Thane-Nashik highway, which included the Kharegaon to Padgha and Talvali to Shahapur sections, Shinde observed the ongoing pothole repairs and assessed the causes of recent traffic jams. Accompanied by key officials including Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, MMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee, and several other regional and transportation authorities, Shinde highlighted the need for improved traffic management due to delays caused by road conditions and heavy vehicles.Shinde addressed the media, noting that the current travel time on the Thane-Nashik route has increased due to road conditions and heavy traffic. He stressed the importance of managing traffic, especially from heavy vehicles, and coordinating with local authorities to ensure smoother flow and minimal disruptions.
To address the issue of potholes, Shinde explained that Leo Polymer Technology will be utilized throughout the Thane-Nashik and Nashik-Thane roads. This technology is expected to ensure durability and enhance road safety. Additionally, Shinde emphasized that all bridge projects, including those at Jindal, Washind, and Asangaon, will also incorporate this technology.
The Chief Minister also urged for swift action against any obstructions to the repair work and called for a collaborative effort to expedite the completion of these projects. He mentioned future infrastructure plans, including a new bridge at Khadvali Phata to alleviate traffic congestion, and instructed concerned departments to maximize manpower and resources to expedite road improvements.
