MahaGenco invites tenders for 75 MW solar projects worth Rs. 600 cr.
State-run Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MahaGenco) has invited tenders for the development of 50 MW grid interactive project in Kudgaon, Osmanabad district, Marathwada and 25 MW at Sakri, Dhule district, north Maharashtra. Both these projects envisage a total investment of Rs. 600 crore (Rs. 8 crore per megawatt).
MahaGenco currently has an installed generation capacity of 11367 MW, of which 7980 MW is thermal, 2585 MW hydel, 672 MW gas turbine and 132 solar; the new projects are part of an attempt to increase its solar generation base. MahaGenco is already implementing a capacity addition programme of about 9320 MW.
The plants will be operated and maintained on public private partnership (PPP) basis for 25 years. Bidders will be at liberty to choose any proven solar technology for implementing the projects.
'As far as solar generation capacity is concerned, Mahagenco has so far commissioned 132 MW …. and plans to increase solar capacity to 450 MW by end of 2015-16 in a bid to fulfull renewable power obligation mandatory under Electricity Act , 2003,' a MahaGenco official told Business Standard.
According to the official, 50 MW at Kaudgaon, (Phase-II), 50 MW at Gangakhed, 80 MW at Mangladevi, Yawatmal and 15 MW at Aanterveli, Parbhani will be undertaken soon.
