Lucknow to Build Integrated City Bus Terminal.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has given its nod for the development of an integrated city bus terminal and commercial zone within the Vrindavan residential layout. This ambitious project aims to significantly enhance urban mobility, ease traffic congestion, and provide modern, citizen-friendly amenities in Lucknow, while also generating sustainable revenue.
Set to be developed over seven acres under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode, the new terminal will be a major boost to the city's public transport infrastructure. The land will be leased to a private developer for a period of 60 years, with the Directorate of Urban Transport having already paid ₹150 crore to the UP Housing Board to acquire the plot.
The integrated facility is designed to cater to daily commuters relying on city bus services for work and other errands. Officials highlighted that the current location already manages the operations of 141 electric and 52 CNG buses, complete with charging and parking facilities.
Once developed, the new terminal will offer a comprehensive range of amenities, including commercial and utility spaces, shops, and eateries. It will feature an air-conditioned waiting hall and establish infrastructure for charging and parking an additional 150 electric buses. The entire project is budgeted at ₹380 crore and is expected to take up to five years for complete development with the help of the private partner.
