L&T Secures Transmission & Distribution Orders Worth Up to ₹5,000 Crore.
Engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced recently that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical has secured new orders in India and the Middle East worth up to ₹5,000 crore.
L&T categorized these as large orders, falling within the ₹2,500 crore to ₹5,000 crore range. Among the key projects, the company has received an order for implementing an Advanced Distribution Management System in West Bengal. This technology will enhance power distribution by integrating Outage Management and Distribution Management System functions, providing real-time monitoring and control of medium and low voltage networks. The system will improve network reliability by enabling quicker fault isolation and faster restoration of power.
Internationally, L&T has won significant orders in the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia, the company secured a contract to build a 380 kV substation to facilitate the evacuation of solar power generation. In Kuwait, L&T has been awarded a 400 kV substation project for a major city.
Additionally, in Dubai, L&T PT&D will establish several Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations, including a 400/132 kV substation, as part of the emirate's efforts to upgrade its power transmission infrastructure. These developments are aimed at ensuring Dubai remains a top global destination for residents, workers, and visitors.
Last October, L&T's PT&D vertical secured new orders in the Middle East and Africa worth up to ₹10,000 crore for expanding and strengthening high-voltage electricity grids in the region.
