Lemon Tree Hotels Inks Deal for New Property in Kundapura, Karnataka
Lemon Tree Hotels has unveiled its latest venture, Lemon Tree Hotel, Kundapura, Karnataka, marking a significant addition to its portfolio. The property is scheduled to open by the fiscal year 2027 and will be under the management of Carnation Hotels Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary and the management arm of Lemon Tree Hotels Limited.
Kundapura, known for its cultural richness, is steeped in history, with landmarks like the Kundeshvara temple dating back to the 10th-11th century Alupa dynasty. The town has played a pivotal role as the center of power for the Vijayanagara Dynasty, under Portuguese rule in the 16th century, and later part of the kingdom established by Haidar Ali and Tipu Sultan, subsequently coming under British rule post-1799.
Situated on the western coast of Karnataka, Kundapura is surrounded by rivers on two sides and the backwaters and Arabian Sea on the third, offering a picturesque backdrop. The town is renowned for its distinctive Kannada dialect and delectable local cuisine.
Lemon Tree Hotel, Kundapura, Karnataka, will boast 80 well-appointed rooms, along with features such as restaurants, a meeting room, swimming pool, fitness center, and other public areas. The hotel is strategically located, with Mangalore International Airport at 90 kms and Udupi railway station at 38 kms. Accessibility is further enhanced by well-connected roadways, catering to both public and private transportation.
Mr. Mahesh Aiyer, CEO of Carnation Hotels, expressed his satisfaction at the expansion of Lemon Tree's portfolio in Karnataka. Recognizing the growing segment of religious tourism, he highlighted the brand's active pursuit of opportunities in this domain. The upcoming Lemon Tree Hotel in Kundapura will complement the brand's existing eight hotels and resorts in the state, contributing to its strategic presence in the region.
