Lahore airport gets new medical centre
Lahore: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Managing Director Captain Muhammad Aijaz Haroon has inaugurated PIA Air Crew Medical Centre (ACMC) at the Lahore airport. According to a PIA's spokesman here on Tuesday, the Air Crew Medical Centre has been functional under the supervision of Chief Medial Officer Dr A.Q. Akhund.
The purpose of this centre is to provide maximum healthcare of flying crew and give emergency medical coverage to PIA employees of operational areas under the regulations of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The managing director in his address emphasised the importance of healthcare and that providing proper medical treatment to each employee was his top priority. 'There would be no compromise on healthcare whether the employee was permanent, contractual or on daily wages,' he added.
'Lahore is a major PIA station and we would do whatever improvement we could at present regarding treatment, new equipment and handling emergencies. We have also given approval for added manpower as and when required,' he said.
The PIA ACMC has a well-equipped laboratory for routine investigation of the crew in issuing medical fitness certificates and assessing of their general medical fitness, including emergency investigation. It has a 24-hour ambulance service with mobile telephone facility and in case of emergency to transfer serious patients to relevant hospitals.
Earlier, the chief guest was received by Chief Medical Officer Dr Akhund, Incharge ACMC Dr Hasan Abrar and District Manager Tariq Ismail. The managing director PIA was presented a shield on behalf of Air Crew Medical Centre by the CMO Dr Akhund.
