KUDA to develop mega township on 180 acres.
Apart from contributing to the proposed outer ring road in Warangal city, the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) would develop a mega township on 180 acres of land at Madipally, said chairman Marri Yadava Reddy.
A huge nursery would also be set up on 20 acres. In a phased manner, the KUDA would acquire 2,000 acres within and outside the proposed outer ring road and set up a land bank. “Like other urban bodies such as the one in Hyderabad, the KUDA should also be self-sufficient with regards to funds, and we are making plans for the same,” Mr. Reddy said.
The KUDA was entrusted with the development of the Ekasila park in Hanamkonda at a cost of ₹3.5 crore. The work would begin soon.
The urban body was developing and beautifying three road junctions – Hanamkonda bus stand, Naidu pump on Hunter Road, and the one at Madikonda beyond Kazipet. Work on the first two junctions would be completed by April 20. Similarly, road medians would also be beautified.
Speaking about the Land Regularisation Scheme, Mr. Reddy said there were 30,000 applications waiting to be approved, which, due to staff crunch, were being kept pending. Recently, the State government permitted the KUDA to appoint temporary staff to expedite LRS applications.
Henceforth, those applying for new layouts need not wait for months or years like in the past. All the applications for new layouts would be disposed within three months. The applicants need not come to KUDA office even. “We have improved our system and a new intelligence network is also in place. We are strictly against corruption and land grabbing. The offenders, including our own staff colluding with such persons, will be severely punished,” Mr Reddy said.
