KCR Urges Gadkari to Upgrade 6 State Highways.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao requested Union minister for road transport, highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari to upgrade six state highways as national highways in the first phase. Rao submitted a memorandum to Gadkari in Delhi recently to this effect.

The density of national highways in Telangana per 100 sq km area is 2.25 as against 3.06 in AP, 3.28 in Karnataka, 4.66 in Kerala, 3.85 in Tamil Nadu and the national average density is 2.84.

KCR also wanted Gadkari to sanction Rs. 150 crore from MORTH and NHAI to Hyderabad city to repair the national highways passing through the city. Some sections of national highways in the city are maintained by NHAI and some are being maintained by State PWD.

The chief minister also requested Gadkari to extend NH 63 up to Madnoor to join NH 161 to complete connectivity between Karnataka, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

He also wanted Gadkari to take up overlay work of Hyderabad-Sangareddy section of NH 65. The development of this was taken up in 2008 on BOT and has been neglected and the overlay work which was due in 2013 was not taken up, KCR explained.

Once this stretch is completed, Hyderabad will have better connectivity with Pune. The chief minister also requested Gadkari to consider extension of NH 563 up to Khammam to join NH 365-A which facilitates connecting three important district headquarters Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam.

He asked Gadkari to complete 17.6 km long pending four-lane road works from Palvancha to Bhadrachalam.
