Jurala hydel power house: Two units inundated.

The Jurala hydro electric power house located in Atmakur of Mahbubnagar district of Telangana has been inundated due to dam flood water entering the power installations.

The Chairman and Managing Director of TS Genco, D. Prabbhakar Rao, along with chief engineers reached the Jurala project site to speed up the restoration works.

Efforts are on to restore two units of 40 MW each which have been inundated.

The incident occurred when the water released from Jurala flooded the power units.

Construction work

According to a statement from TS Genco, the construction works of Lower Jurala Hydro Electric Power House (6x40 MW) were in progress. All the works in respect of units 1 & 2 were completed during the last monsoon season and they were planned to be synchronised in August 2014.

In this process, all the necessary measures were taken to facilitate water filling of upstream intake and downstream and the flood water from dam was let out on July 30 at about 6 p.m.
