"ITI Limited Secures ₹37.5 Crore Contract for Solar Street Light Systems in Bihar"
ITI Limited, a prominent telecom manufacturing company, has been awarded Letters of Intent (LoIs) worth ₹37.5 crore from the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Authority (BREDA) for the installation of solar street light systems.
ITI Limited’s Naini Unit will oversee the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of these systems. The project includes a comprehensive maintenance contract (CMC) for five years and a remote monitoring system (RMS). The first LoI, valued at ₹8.58 crore, involves the deployment of 2,800 solar street light systems. The second LoI, worth ₹28.94 crore, covers the installation of 9,440 solar street light systems, awarded by DPRO Katihar under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Solar Street Light Yojana.
These solar street light systems, supervised by BREDA, consist of solar PV modules, solar batteries, LED luminaires, mounting structures, and other balance of system (BOS) components.
Commenting on the partnership, Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited, said, "ITI Limited is proud to partner with the Government of Bihar’s BREDA to help illuminate streets with sustainable solar energy. This project is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and creating vibrant rural environments. The project not only adds to the aesthetics but also provides cutting-edge lighting solutions for a greener tomorrow." He further added, "ITI Limited has gained extensive experience in successfully supplying and installing solar street light systems in Bihar since last year."
The Naini Unit is already manufacturing solar panels capable of harnessing up to 400W of solar power. Annually, the unit produces panels that can generate 18 megawatts (MW) of solar energy, equating to around 55,000 panels per year. With an enhanced capacity of 500 MW, the unit aims to manufacture approximately 1.5 million panels per year.
