Hyundai Accelerates EV Infrastructure, Commits to 600 Fast Chargers After Installing 119 Nationwide.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) is making significant strides in its mission to electrify the country, announcing on World EV Day that it has installed 119 public fast-charging stations as of August 2025. This marks a key step towards its ambitious target of establishing 600 charging stations across India.
The strategic plan focuses on deploying these chargers along major highways, in key cities, and at Hyundai dealerships to expand the accessibility of electric vehicles (EVs). According to a company release, the network has already dispensed over 2.3 million units of energy through more than 180,000 charging sessions, serving both individual consumers and business clients.
The initiative is contributing directly to India’s carbon neutrality goals. The company estimates that its charging infrastructure has helped prevent the release of more than 1.6 million kilograms of tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions.
Jae Wan Ryu, HMIL’s Function Head of Corporate Planning, stated in the release that the company is "strongly positioned to lead the acceleration of EV adoption across the country." He highlighted Hyundai's expanding retail presence, which now includes 542 sales outlets in 238 cities as of August 2025.
Ryu affirmed the company's commitment to supporting the government’s vision for mass mobility electrification through "strategic investments in both new-age EV platforms and robust charging infrastructure."
