Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), a Vedanta Group company, is set to diversify its business by foraying into the fertilizer sector. The company's new ₹1,800 crore plant, located in Chanderiya, Rajasthan, is scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027.

The 0.5 million-tonne capacity plant will produce Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium (NPK) fertilizers. According to a source close to the development, the project is being funded through a combination of internal and external sources.

Hindustan Zinc is already looking ahead to its next phase of expansion, with plans to double production capacity to 1 million tonnes over the next five years.
