Hindustan Zinc Partners with Rajasthan Heritage Authority for Conservation.

Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), a Vedanta Group company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan Heritage Authority (RHA) to support the development of a Heritage Corridor in Rajasthan's Deeg district. The project is valued at ₹85 crore and will be funded through HZL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative over three years.

The agreement was signed in the presence of key officials, including Onkar Singh Lakhawat, Chairman of the RHA, and Arun Misra, CEO of HZL.

Project Details

The initiative focuses on the Poonchari ka Lautha site, a significant part of the Braj cultural landscape and a key location on the sacred Govardhan Hill pilgrimage route. The project's scope includes:

The goal is to preserve the site's history while also improving the visitor experience and benefiting local communities.

Onkar Singh Lakhawat emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in conservation efforts. "This collaboration sets a positive example of how industry and government can come together to conserve heritage while fostering sustainable tourism," he said.

Arun Misra of HZL added that the company is committed to preserving cultural sites and developing infrastructure that benefits both visitors and the local community. The project adds to HZL’s existing CSR efforts in education, healthcare, and water conservation, which have reportedly impacted over 23 lakh people in more than 2,300 villages.
