Green Logistics: Concor's First 'Net Zero' Warehouse Coming Up in Sriperumbudur.

Container Corporation of India Ltd (Concor), the logistics arm of Indian Railways, is venturing into specialized warehousing with the development of its first 'net zero' ambient warehouse. The 1.30 lakh sq ft facility is being established in Sriperumbudur to cater to a significant customer base in the region, including the thriving electronics sector.

G Gayatri, Area Head - III at Concor, shared details of this initiative on Tuesday during a session on the State Logistics Policy, jointly organized by The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. Gayatri revealed that the sprawling 50-acre facility will be constructed with an investment exceeding ₹60 crore, with the initial 20-acre phase expected to be operational within a year.

Highlighting the rationale behind this project, Gayatri explained that the decision to build this 'net zero' warehouse followed an assessment of interest based on Expressions of Interest submitted by various parties. Concor is now advancing with the construction of approximately 1 lakh sq ft of ambient storage and an additional 30,000 sq ft of cold storage within the facility. This strategic move into niche warehousing underscores Concor's commitment to providing environmentally sustainable and specialized logistics solutions to meet the evolving needs of its diverse clientele.
