Government Allocates ₹19 Crore for Repair of 6.5km Stretch on Nashik Road

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved a grant of Rs. 19 crore for the restoration of the deteriorating 6.5-kilometer-long Nashik Road stretch, a crucial gateway to Pune and Shirdi. The stretch, spanning from Dwarka Chowk to Datta Mandir Chowk, has been a cause for concern due to its deplorable condition, leading to frequent traffic jams and inconveniences for commuters. The Public Works Department (PWD) of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is set to oversee the project.

Officials have confirmed that the tender process has commenced to select the contractor for the project, with work expected to commence by January of the upcoming year. The entire process, including tendering and implementation, is estimated to take approximately two to three months.

Hemant Godse, the Member of Parliament from Nashik, has been actively advocating for the repair of this crucial road, citing its deteriorating condition and the resulting traffic congestion. Expressing satisfaction with the approval from MoRTH, Godse highlighted the imminent relief that city residents would experience once the road is resurfaced.

In addition to the road relaying, the renovation plan includes the refurbishment of dividers and railings along the Nashik Road stretch. Furthermore, the trees lining the roads will receive fresh paint, contributing to an overall improvement in the aesthetics of the area.

The decision has been well-received by Nashik Road residents, who anticipate a reduction in the risk of accidents associated with the poor road conditions. Prashant Suryavanshi, a resident of Nashik Road, emphasized the significant development and population increase in the vicinity in recent years. He highlighted the substantial industrialization in the Sinnar industrial areas, with thousands of workers commuting from Nashik city to Sinnar via Nashik Road daily. The present poor condition of the road has been causing considerable inconvenience to commuters, making the center's decision to relay the 6.5-kilometer stretch a welcomed relief for smoother vehicular movement and the alleviation of traffic congestion.
