"Goa to Get New 45km Bypass Road Linking Margao with Karnataka".
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, unveiled plans for a major infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity between Margao and Karnataka. Gadkari disclosed that a new 45km-long bypass road will be constructed, linking Margao, Goa's commercial hub, directly to the Karnataka border.
Speaking at a press conference, Gadkari outlined the ambitious project, which is set to cost approximately Rs 3,500 crore. The six-lane bypass road is designed to streamline traffic flow and improve accessibility between Navelim, Cuncolim, and the Karnataka border.
"The proposal for a Margao bypass road, connecting Navelim and Cuncolim to Karnataka over a stretch of 45km, has been actively advocated by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat. I am pleased to announce the allocation of Rs 3,500 crore for this critical infrastructure development," Gadkari affirmed.
In addition to the Margao bypass, Gadkari also addressed the expansion of the Panaji-Belagavi section of NH 748. This project, encompassing a 52km stretch, will undergo four-laning at an estimated cost of Rs 4,000 crore, further enhancing connectivity between Goa and Karnataka.
"The four-laning of the Panaji-Belagavi section is part of our broader efforts to improve road infrastructure and facilitate smoother travel experiences," Gadkari added, highlighting the strategic importance of these developments for regional connectivity and economic growth.
The announcement underscores the government's commitment to bolstering infrastructure in Goa, with these projects expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance overall connectivity in the region.
Gadkari concluded by emphasizing the timeline for implementation, indicating that both projects are slated to commence promptly to expedite their completion and benefit commuters and businesses alike.
The unveiling of these initiatives marks a pivotal step towards realizing enhanced connectivity and economic integration between Goa and Karnataka under Gadkari's stewardship of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
