GIDA to Get Power to Acquire Land Directly.
The state government will give the power for acquiring land directly to Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA) for carrying out various development projects on the Goshree Islands.
The decision was taken at the GIDA council meeting chaired by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy recently. The Chief Minister said that by giving GIDA the right to acquire land directly from the owners, the delay in implementation of projects can be avoided to a certain extent.
At present, GIDA is carrying out development projects worth Rs. 400 crore in the district. A separate cell will be formed for the land acquisition process with the District Collector at its helm.
The Chief Minister also instructed the Collector to analyse the scope of constructing a bridge at Thanthonnithuruthu.
He also asked the District Collector to sort out the complaints and grievances of the Thanothonnithuruthu residents.
The GIDA will also look into the complaint that there is no service road at Mulavukad from the Container Road.
