"EIL seals a major international deal worth over $350 million with Nigeria's industrial giant, the Dangote Group."
State-run Engineers India Ltd (EIL) recently said it has signed a contract valued at more than $350 million (around ₹3,170 crore) with Nigeria-based Dangote Group for the expansion of the group’s flagship refinery.
Under the agreement, Dangote Group plans to add a second processing train that will raise the refinery’s capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day, enabling the production of Euro VI-grade fuels, EIL said.
In addition to the refining expansion, the project includes a major scale-up of polypropylene capacity. Dangote Group will increase polypropylene production from 830,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) to 2.4 million TPA by revamping the existing polypropylene unit and installing an additional 1.2 million TPA unit. The expansion will also include a world-scale 750 kilo-tonnes per annum UOP Oleflex unit to supplement propylene feed to the polypropylene facilities.
EIL said the latest expansion aligns with Nigeria’s broader objective of becoming a regional hub for refined petroleum products and petrochemicals.
