Dredging Corporation of India Signs 20 MOUs with 14 Organizations Worth ₹17,000 Crore.
Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCIL) has signed 22 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 16 organizations, collectively valued at ₹17,645 crore, during the India Maritime Week 2025 held in Mumbai from October 27-31.
DCIL, operating under a consortium of four major ports — Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), Paradip Port Authority (PPA), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), and Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) — functions under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW).
The agreements cover a range of initiatives:
Promoter and Major Ports: Visakhapatnam, Paradip, Jawaharlal Nehru, Deendayal, Shyam Prasad Mukherjee, Cochin, Chennai, and Mumbai Ports, focusing on dredging requirements for the next 2-5 years.
Cochin Shipyard: For construction and repair of dredgers as part of modernization efforts under the Atman Nirbhar Bharat initiative.
NMDC, Abu Dhabi: Formation of a joint venture with a foreign major to enhance operational efficiency and global competitiveness.
Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML): For indigenization of spares and construction of inland dredgers under the Atman Nirbhar initiative.
IHC: To modernize existing dredgers, optimizing their capacity utilization.
These partnerships aim to strengthen India’s dredging capabilities, promote self-reliance in shipbuilding, and enhance operational efficiency in the maritime sector.
