CtrlS Datacenters to Invest ₹2,200 Crore in Kolkata Facility.
Datacentre operator CtrlS Datacenters is set to invest around ₹2,200 crore in its Kolkata data centre at the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub over the next five to six years. The first phase of the facility, located in the West Bengal government's flagship 250-acre tech hub in New Town, is expected to launch on August 15, featuring a 16MW IT load capacity.
Suresh Kumar Rathod, President of the Colocation Business at CtrlS Datacenters, shared that the construction is in its final stage. The first phase of the data centre, covering over 90,000 square feet and situated on 5 acres of land, marks CtrlS's 16th facility in India. The project will be completed in four phases, ultimately achieving an IT load capacity of over 60 MW by 2027-28. This development is anticipated to generate around 1,200 direct and indirect jobs in various sectors including IT infrastructure management, administration, software development, and application services.
CtrlS plans to start the second phase within six months of the first phase's launch. The West Bengal government aims to make the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub a data centre hub for both Indian and South Eastern countries, providing companies with subsidized land and single-window clearances. Other major companies, such as Reliance Industries, Adani Enterprises, and Tata Consultancy Services, have also secured plots in the tech hub, whose foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in August 2018.
Currently, CtrlS operates 15 data centres and plans to open at least five new centres across the country in this financial year.
