CM opens hospital at Ponnani.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated a Government Women and Children Hospital at Ponnani recently. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vijayan equated the health scenario in the State to that of developed nations.
The Chief Minister called for concerted efforts to develop the hospital further by imbibing the needs of the changing health scenario. “The government is duty-bound to make available for the common people any advanced treatment in the health sector,” he said.
Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan presided over the function. Health Minister K.K. Shylaja, Higher Education Minister K.T. Jaleel, and former Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammedkutty spoke.
The 135-bed Women and Children Hospital has a centralised laboratory system and a centralised gas supply. The government created 85 posts for the new hospital, including that of 27 doctors and 42 nursing staff.
The hospital can handle four delivery cases at a time, according to hospital officials.
