CM Bommai: Gadag Station Project Reflects Centre's Rail Ambition.

The newly renovated Gadag Railway Station stands as a testament to the Central government's commendable focus on railway development, according to former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai. Speaking via video conference at the inauguration ceremony of the revamped station under the Amrit Bharat Scheme on Thursday, Bommai expressed "great joy and pride" over the ₹23 crore investment.

The event, organized by the South Western Railway Hubballi Division, highlighted the station's significant upgrade. "Gadag is a historically significant land, known for its religious heritage, as the land of Kumara Vyasa, and as a hub for printing. Betageri is famous for its handlooms. Giving a major boost to industry, commerce, and tourism has been prioritised, and for that, he extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Bommai stated.

He recalled the station's long history, noting that the first train from Gadag to Hubballi was launched in 1884. With over 5,000 passengers daily, the station now boasts enhanced facilities under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, including escalators, lifts, overbridges, foot overbridges, and essential amenities for passengers.

Bommai also provided updates on ongoing and upcoming rail projects in the region. He mentioned the progress of the Gadag-Wadi railway line, which will provide direct connectivity to Hyderabad upon completion. Additionally, a new route from Gadag to Yalavigi has been approved, a result of efforts by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Prime Minister Modi, which will ease travel to Hyderabad via Haveri and Gadag.

The MP lauded the Narendra Modi government's comprehensive modernization of Indian Railways, citing broad gauge expansion, double gauge lines, electrification, and advanced signaling systems. He highlighted the "major revolution" taking place in Indian Railways, with over 500 Vande Bharat trains now operating at high speed nationwide. Bommai concluded by emphasizing the crucial role railways play in transforming India into a developed nation by enhancing public utility and boosting commerce.
