CloudExtel to Lay 250 Km Underground Fiber in Bengaluru.
CloudExtel, a leading network-as-a-service provider, is set to deploy 250 kilometers of underground fiber in Bengaluru over the next two years. This significant infrastructure expansion aims to enhance connectivity for data centers, hyperscalers, and strengthen the core networks of telecom operators.
According to Kunal Bajaj, CEO and Co-founder of CloudExtel, this Bengaluru rollout is part of a broader initiative to lay 1,000 kilometers of underground fiber across Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru.
Founded in 2010, CloudExtel specializes in providing critical last-mile fiber, small cell, and shared RAN infrastructure. Its clientele includes major telecom players like Airtel and Vodafone Idea, as well as various internet service providers. Bajaj explained that CloudExtel provides the "underlying dark fiber – akin to the plumbing" – which is then utilized and operated by major telcos. The company currently manages 12,000 kilometers of fiber across 50 locations.
This investment in Bengaluru's digital backbone is expected to significantly improve network reliability and capacity, supporting the city's growing demands for high-speed data and cloud services.
