The central government has sanctioned ₹106 crore for 18 infrastructure projects in the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency, including the long-awaited Lolasur bridge in Gokak taluk. The funds, allocated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways under Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, will primarily focus on re-asphalting state highways and upgrading major district roads.
A key project in the sanctioned list is the ₹40 crore Lolasur bridge on the Ghataprabha River, a critical infrastructure upgrade that will prevent Gokak town from being cut off during annual floods. Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi had been lobbying for the project for over a year.
Additionally, two bridges in Savadatti taluk have been approved—one on the Malaprabha River along the Arabhavi-Challakeri road at ₹6 crore and another on the Gokak-Savadatti road at ₹12 crore.
According to a statement by Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar, multiple road improvement projects have been sanctioned across the district. In Belagavi taluk alone, ₹13 crore has been allocated for re-asphalting key roads, including:
In Gokak taluk, ₹4 crore has been set aside for the Jamboti-Rabakavi Road, covering sections from Akkatangerahala Cross to Madawala and Hanamapur Cross to Mamadapur Cross. Another ₹2 crore has been approved for the improvement of the Jat-Jamboti Road from Gokak RTO office to Malavinni Cross.
Additional allocations include:
The sanctioned projects aim to enhance connectivity, reduce travel disruptions, and improve road infrastructure across Belagavi.
