Lubrizol to commission Dahej plant by mid-2015.
Central Governments push for affordable housing is set to open new business opportunities for construction industry in the country. Eyeing a larger market share in the domestic market, Lubrizol Advanced Material India Pvt Ltd. will domestically manufacture chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) compound to gain better access to customers and manage costs.
The Indian arm of Ohio-based Lubrizol Corporation, controlled by billionaire investor Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway has invested US $ 50 million towards setting up the manufacturing unit at Dahej in Gujarat with an installed capacity of 50,000 tonnes of compounds per annum. The plant will be commissioned by mid-2015.
'The demand is picking up and we see more opportunities opening up after the Central Government’s emphasise on infrastructure development and affordable housing. This will lift demand for construction pipes,' Manoj Dhar, head – TempRite, India & SAARC told BusinessLine. TempRite is a brand owned by Lubrizol.
According to Dhar, after commissioning of Dahej plant Lubrizol will be able to capture nearly 55-60 per cent of India's CPVC compounds market.
