‘Cement road project works to begin from December’.
The ambitious Rs. 324 crore cement concrete road project is likely to kick off from December. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) standing committee has set a target for the project management consultant to ensure commencement of works from December.
Standing committee held meeting on Friday and approved 30 proposals. Two proposals were related to cement road project — appointment of Monarch Surveyors and Engineering Consultant as project management consultant and two other companies for conducting geotechnical and other surveys.
Standing panel chief Ramesh Shingare said the project will be executed in 22 packages and bhoomipuja will begin one by one in December and January. 'Consultant will prepare detailed project report of all packages and ensure tendering process in given deadline,' he said.
Earlier, Shingare had stated project to be executed in 24 packages. The administration's proposal was to execute the project in 12 packages.
Under the project, the state government will bear Rs 100 crore of total cost of Rs 324.03 crore while the remaining cost will be borne by NMC and Nagpur Improvement Trust ( NIT).
The standing committee also approved extension for water tankers up to December 31. The water works department is continuing with the water tankers without going for tendering process for the last one year. Now the extension has been given on condition of beginning fresh tendering process.
Shingare said fresh tenders will be floated and extension was must as supply of water tankers cannot be stopped.
Shingare remained silent when asked why water works department did not complete fresh tendering process before lapse of work order period of water tankers. The standing committee approved 27 proposals related to tar, cement roads and civil works.
