Cairn Inks Contract with Parker Wellbore for Rajasthan E&P Operations.

\\\Cairn Oil & Gas has entered into an agreement with Parker Wellbore—recently acquired by Nabors Industries—to expand its exploration and production activities in India. The deal involves the deployment of a high-performance 2000 HP drilling rig at Cairn’s largest onshore asset in Barmer, Rajasthan, with operations set to commence this month.

The state-of-the-art rig, equipped with a top drive system, automated pipe handling, and real-time data monitoring, is designed to boost operational efficiency, maximize performance, and ensure safer, more consistent drilling processes. This strategic move aligns with Cairn’s broader efforts to enhance production and further its exploration initiatives in the region.

“Our commitment to investing in advanced technology for the exploration of unconventional resources in India is unwavering,” said Hitesh Vaid, Chief Financial Officer at Cairn Oil & Gas. “This partnership with Parker Wellbore will enable us to start drilling within the next few months, significantly enhancing our operational performance and contributing to our growth strategy.”

Cairn’s exploration portfolio is built on a proven petroleum system characterized by high-quality source rock and multiple grabens with oil and gas plays in a rift setting. Recent drilling has validated the system’s potential for further exploration and development.

In addition to its current onshore projects, Cairn is actively pursuing growth opportunities in deepwater, tight oil, ASP, shale, and Northeast exploration, while seeking partnerships with global oil and gas companies to leverage expertise in these areas. As a key contributor to India’s energy sector, Cairn currently supplies around 25 percent of the nation’s domestic crude oil production and aims to double this share to secure a sustainable energy future.

The partnership was further solidified during discussions between the leadership of both companies at CERAWeek in Houston.
