Patna Metro: Trial Run Begins on Line 2.
The Patna Metro Rail Project took a significant step forward with the successful completion of its first fitness trial runs on Line 2 on September 7, 2025. The trials were conducted between the Patna Depot and Bhoothnath Metro Station, paving the way for the new Mass Rapid Transit System.
Line 2 of the Patna Metro spans 14.05 kilometers, connecting Patna Junction Railway Station and the New ISBT, and features a total of 12 stations. During the recent trial runs, critical systems were thoroughly tested to ensure safe and efficient operations before the line is opened to the public.
This development follows a recent inspection of the Metro Depot and the Zero Mile Metro Station by Shri Jibesh Kumar, Minister of Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD).
The Patna Metro project is being developed in two corridors under its first phase. Phase 1, Line 1 (East-West Line) will run for 16.86 kilometers from Danapur Cantonment to Khemni Chak with 14 stations. Line 2 (North-South Line) will cover the 14.05-kilometer stretch from Patna Junction to the New ISBT.
