Bengaluru Airport City Ltd Begins Construction on 2 Million Sq. Ft. Business Park to Accelerate GCC Growth.
Bengaluru Airport City Ltd (BACL), a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), has officially broken ground on a 2 million square feet Business Park designed to establish Bengaluru as a global hub for Global Capability Centers (GCC). This development follows the Karnataka government’s introduction of a new GCC policy aimed at creating 350,000 jobs and contributing $50 billion to the state’s economy.
Spanning 17.7 acres within the BIAL campus, the Business Park will feature four blocks, including business parks, an education and health district, R&D hubs, and various entertainment and hospitality options, each measuring 500,000 square feet. The project is expected to comprise 52% of the overall Airport City development.
“Bengaluru is home to 36% of India’s GCC workforce driving growth across sectors such as IT, biotechnology, automotive, and aerospace. The Business Park represents the start of a community rich in networking opportunities, top-notch amenities, and advanced infrastructure,” said Rao Munukutla, Executive Director and CEO of BACL.
Additionally, the Airport City will feature India’s first Concert Arena within an airport ecosystem, along with a Convention and Exhibition Centre, and plans to add 5,200 hotel rooms. Last year, the airport served 37.5 million passengers, with projections to expand its capacity to 90 million by 2030.
