Govt likely to terminate contract with GVR on Jammu Airport expansion.

Taking serious notice of unnecessary delay in completion of construction work and slow pace in progress on modernization and expansion of Jammu Airport, the State Government is contemplating to terminate the contract with the executing agency, which has been allotted the project.

The Department of PWD (R&B) is learnt to have served final notice to the multinational GVR Infra Projects Ltd. to submit the PERT (Project Evaluation & Review Technique) Analysis Chart for completion of work by May 15 or face termination of the original contract, official sources informed the Excelsior.

'There was left no option but to initiate for fresh tenders by recommending termination of the original contract if you (GVR Infra) fail to submit the PERT Chart before the mentioned period and ensure the multiplication in progress of work,' the R&B warns in its final notice served to the executing agency recently.

Pertinent to mention that the multinational GVR Infra Projects Ltd was allotted the Jammu Airport project for modernization and expansion in 2012 for construction of aircraft hanger, annex building along with VIP lounge and compound wall. Plumbing, fire fighting, electric works and finishing works are also included in the job worth Rs. 29 crore.
