"Ashok Leyland Commences Construction on New E-Bus Factory in Uttar Pradesh"

Ashok Leyland, a prominent manufacturer of trucks and buses, has embarked on establishing a state-of-the-art integrated commercial vehicle plant with a focus on green mobility in Uttar Pradesh.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiling the foundation plaque during an event in Lucknow, as per the company's statement.

Spanning across 70 acres near Lucknow, the greenfield manufacturing unit will primarily concentrate on producing electric buses. However, it will also possess the capability to manufacture other vehicles powered by existing and emerging alternative fuels.

Dheeraj Hinduja, Executive Chairman of Ashok Leyland, emphasized, "Once operational, the facility will have a positive impact on our common goals of generating employment opportunities and advancing sustainable mobility in India."

Initially, the new plant will have the capacity to produce 2,500 electric buses annually. Ashok Leyland aims to scale up this capacity to 5,000 vehicles per year over the next decade.

"This facility will not only address the increasing demand for electric vehicles but also play a pivotal role in the holistic development of the region," stated Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok
