ArcelorMittal starts fencing plant land in Karnataka.

The world's largest steel company ArcelorMittal SA has started to fence its land in the Bellary district of Karnataka amid some local protests, the company’s India head said recently. This is among the early steps before ArcelorMittal begins constructing its steel plant.

'We started fencing the land… we have just started the work,' said Vijay Kumar Bhatnagar, executive vice-president and chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal India and China. 'It may take five months for us to completely encircle the 2,800 acres of the land. There will be some roads to be constructed inside the land for security and some fencing posts also.'
