Airports Must be Developed on PPP Mode, Says Modi.
The tourism industry is not only the fastest growing industry in the country but is also providing livelihood to a large number of people, including the poor, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said this while inaugurating the new international terminal building of the Tirupati Airport at Reniugunta, recently.
Stating that all the airports in the country should be developed further through the private public partnership (PPP) system, he hoped that the Tirupati airport would now see more footfall of the overseas devotees of Lord Venkateswara.
Earlier on his arrival at the airport from Amaravati, the PM was welcomed by governor ESL Narasaimhan and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the airport. Later, he unveiled the plaque in the new terminal building and visited the photo exhibition on the features of the airport. He was accompanied by Union ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, P Ashok Gajapati Raju and Nirmala Sitharaman and Tirupati MP Varaprasad, AAI chairman Srivatsav, AP minister B Gopalakrishna Reddy and other dignitaries.
Later, the Prime Minister unveiled the stone of ’Sri Venkateswara Mobile and Electronics (SVME)’ where the four giants -- Celkon, Micromax, Lava and Karbonn -- of the Indian mobile industry together would establish companies forming the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC). Modi then met the four mobile manufacturing companies’ leaders and wished them success in their new venture. While interacting with Celkon Mobiles chairman and managing director Y Guru Swamy Naidu, Modi said: 'All the best and wish the company’s new unit a great future'.
After watching a three-minute short film about the rural and uneducated women excelling in their work at the mobile manufacturing units, Modi appreciated the woman employees.
