24-hr water supply for Karimnagar soon.
Karimanagar is likely to be the first municipal body in Telangana to have round-the-clock water supply and an action plan was also prepared for the smart city project at a cost of ₹1,684 crore.
Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Navin Mittal on Tuesday held a meeting with the officials of municipal department and reviewed the Karimnagar drinking water project at the Secretariat, where he outlined the roadmap for steps to be taken to kickstart the programme.
The government is now concentrating on providing adequate water supply to all urban households after the successful grounding of Mission Bhagiratha programme, he said. The Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) is preparing preliminary rapid assessment report to help initiate the preparation of a detailed project report. It was also felt during the course of the discussion that a separate detailed project report would be required for stormwater drains in the city. Mr. Mittal asked engineer-in-chief of public health R. Dhan Singh to take the services of retired public health engineers to assist ASCI in preparing the rapid assessment study. He also suggested that certain smart features like e-billing, online grievance redressal systems can also be taken up under the smart city project. Commissioner Municipal Administration T.K. Sridevi, Karimnagar Municipal Commissioner Shashank and others were present.
