Work on Pattom FOB to be launched today.
The construction work of a foot overbridge (FOB) in front of the St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School at Pattom will begin on Monday. The work is expected to be completed within 45 days. Mayor V.K.Prasanth will inaugurate the work at 10 a.m. The project will be executed under a public-private partnership between the city Corporation and Sun Infrastructure Private Limited.
The company will bear the cost of construction and maintenance of the foot overbridge. It will generate revenue from advertisement rights on the foot overbridge. Earlier, a similar foot overbridge was constructed in front of the Cotton Hill Girls’ Higher Secondary School.
The overbridge will have polycarbonate roofing and aluminium composite panel pillars. The school authorities will take up the responsibility of beautifying the overbridge with a vertical garden.
For the students of the school, crossing the road in the mornings and evenings has been quite an ordeal, even though traffic police personnel have been posted here. The traffic through these roads is also held up for extended periods during the peak hours. The foot overbridge is expected to improve the traffic flow through the road, while ensuring safety of the students.
