West Coast Optilinks (WCO), a division of West Coast Paper Mills Limited and a leading Indian manufacturer and exporter of Optical Fiber Cable, has achieved a significant milestone by doubling its manufacturing capacity for Optical Fiber Cable. The company inaugurated its new manufacturing unit at Fab City, Hyderabad, Telangana, marking the commencement of commercial production today.

Originally projected for commissioning on April 1, 2024, the plant's early completion underscores WCO's commitment to meeting the surging demand driven by global 5G rollouts and aligns with the objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the Digital India initiative.

Virendraa Bangur, Joint Managing Director of West Coast Paper Mills Limited, expressed excitement about the successful expansion, highlighting its significance in scaling up operations and achieving leadership in the industry. He emphasized the pivotal role of this development in supporting the ongoing global digital transformation, particularly with the advancement of 5G technology.

The company, known for its diverse range of Optical Fiber Cables manufactured in Mysore, caters to the telecom and utilities sectors globally. The addition of the Hyderabad unit, alongside the existing facility in Mysore, positions WCO for further growth and expansion. The Hyderabad site's infrastructure is designed to facilitate quick expansions, ensuring agility in response to market demands.

Rajesh Bothra, Chief Financial Officer of West Coast Paper Mills Limited, highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion, emphasizing its contribution to meeting the escalating demand for high-quality Optical Fiber Cables. He underscored the company's readiness to navigate the evolving telecommunications landscape and enhance its market positioning.

Furthermore, WCO is actively working on establishing its own Optical Fiber Draw Towers factory at the Fab City site in Hyderabad. This facility will cater to the Optical Fiber needs of both Cable units, with construction progressing as per schedule, aiming for early commercial production commencement.
