"Welspun Enterprises Secures ₹1,989 Crore Design and Build Contract in Mumbai"
Welspun Enterprises has secured a significant design and build contract worth ₹1,989 crore from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the construction of a tunnel. The project involves designing and constructing a tertiary treated water conveyance tunnel that will connect the Dharavi Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) to the Ghatkopar WWTF, according to a company statement.
The contract, valued at ₹1,989.40 crore excluding GST, mandates the construction of the tunnel using a tunnel boring machine (TBM) within a timeline of 93 months.
In addition, Welspun Enterprises’ subsidiary, Welspun Michigan Engineers, has been awarded a separate project valued at ₹24.60 crore for wastewater treatment in Maharashtra.
B.K. Goenka, Chairman of Welspun World, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, stating, “We are committed to sustainable infrastructure development, in line with our stated objectives of growth and green. Both these projects are aimed at improving water quality and contribute to a circular economy by reusing treated wastewater.”
