Kolkata-based Vikram Solar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to establish a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturing facility in the state with an investment of ₹15,037 crore.

The plant will be set up at the SIPCOT Gangaikondan Industrial Park in Tirunelveli district and is expected to generate employment for about 2,670 people, according to a government statement.

The MoU was signed recently in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and Vikram Solar Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary, along with senior company executives and state government officials.

The proposed facility is part of Tamil Nadu's efforts to attract investments in advanced energy manufacturing and strengthen its position as a hub for clean energy technologies.
