Vallarpadam terminal to begin service by June

Mumbai: The International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam in Cochin is expected to be operational by June this
year. Once operational it can handle three million TEU (20-foot equivalent units).

The work on the terminal is being done in two phases and almost 90 percent of the work is completed. ICTT is the first port-based special economic zone (SEZ) in India and is also the largest container terminal under single operator of about 1,800 m of quay.

It will also handle cargos from Jebel Ali, Colombo and Al Salalah.
