"Vacant Spaces in MRTS Railway Stations to be Commercially Utilized"

The Chennai Division of Southern Railway has issued a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to develop vacant spaces at 15 MRTS stations along the Chintadripet to Velachery route into commercial hubs. This initiative aims to leverage these underutilized areas for commercial ventures, boosting revenue and enhancing market value.

The MRTS line, extending 19.34 km from Chennai Beach to Velachery, serves as a crucial transit route for commuters, especially those working in the IT sector. As Chennai continues to modernize rapidly, the available spaces offer a prime opportunity for various commercial activities including retail outlets, food establishments, convenience stores, service centers, co-working spaces, warehousing, and boarding houses (paying guest accommodations).

The EOI process will focus on identifying potential vacant areas, assessing market possibilities, evaluating feasibility for commercial use, exploring business opportunities, and estimating costs. Interested parties will also address any potential issues related to the development.
