Upper Tamakoshi postpones civil contract deadline

Kathmandu: The Nepal Electricity Authority promoted Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project (UTKHEP) has extended the date for submission of pre-qualification bids for the construction of main civil works to June 20, 2008.

The 309-MW project is estimated to cost NEA US$ 392-mn, and will be funded by NEA, NEA employees, EPF contributors and general public. The scheme will be implemented thro a debt to equity portion of 70:30.

At present the authority is working on the detailed engineering design and which is scheduled for completion in November 2008. A 68-km approach road to the construction site is also being developed.

The entire scheme is expected to go on full stream by July 2013.

It may be noted that NEA is currently scouting for CEO cum Project Head to execute UTKHEP.
