Upper Hadikhola hydel project nears completion

Kathmandu: The Upper Hadikhola Micro Hydro Project at Thangpaldhap of Sindhupalchock district
is to be completed before February 16.

Hydropower project managing director Umesh Kasaju said the project to be completed at a cost of Rs 160 million with private investment would produce one megawatt (MW) electricity. Construction work of the project was begun in November 2007.

It is said the project and the Hydropower Development Division have already agreed to the purchase of electricity at Rs 4.44 per unit.

After completion, the power produced in the project would be linked to the national transmission line. A dozen VDCs of Sindhupalchwok and some others of Kavre district will benefit directly from the project.

Managing director Kasaju said most of the work in the project, including 5-km transmission line, has been completed.
