The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) has attracted investments of more than ₹34,000 crore across its six nodes, emerging as a key hub for defence manufacturing, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said recently.
Speaking at the inauguration of Ashok Leyland’s electric vehicle manufacturing plant here, Singh said he had been informed that investments worth around ₹34,000 crore had already been made in the defence corridor.
The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and senior executives of Ashok Leyland.
Referring to the Uttar Pradesh Aerospace and Defence Unit and Employment Promotion Policy, Singh, who is also the Member of Parliament from Lucknow, said the state was being systematically developed to emerge as a major centre for large-scale defence production in the country.
