"Tiruvarur and Karaikal Railway Stations to Undergo ₹13.73 Crore Renovation"

The Tiruvarur and Karaikal railway stations, situated in the Trichy railway division, are set to undergo a substantial makeover as railway authorities embark on a comprehensive infrastructural enhancement project with an estimated cost of ₹13.73 crore.

Officials have outlined a series of improvements to elevate the overall ambiance and aesthetics of these two well-connected stations, which serve as crucial transit points to cities like Chennai and Trichy. The renovation project encompasses an extension and enhancement of the station buildings, the construction of a new entrance arch, and the creation of a circulating area with attractive landscaping to enhance the visual appeal of the stations.

To improve accessibility and convenience for commuters, the project includes the development of parking spaces and pedestrian walkways in the front areas of the stations. New toilet facilities will be constructed to cater to the needs of passengers. The platforms will also receive significant attention, with the addition of benches, water taps, and aesthetically pleasing shelters. Furthermore, the project features well-designed ramps at the porticos to facilitate easy access for disabled and elderly individuals. Tactile flooring, which assists blind passengers in navigation, will be installed on station platforms.

To streamline the passenger experience, the station premises will be equipped with new signage boards and LED display boards to provide essential travel information and improve navigation. LED lighting will be incorporated throughout the station buildings to ensure better illumination while consuming less power. An Integrated Passenger Information System will be implemented, delivering real-time updates on train schedules, platform changes, and other vital travel information, thus ensuring a seamless and well-informed journey for passengers, as per officials.
