Telangana Unveils ₹2,000-Crore Skill Development Plan
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced a significant initiative aimed at fostering a skilled workforce by allocating ₹2,000 crore to develop 64 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Skill Development Centres.
The announcement was made during a conference on Education and Skill Development organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Telangana Development Forum-US.
Chief Minister Reddy revealed that the state government is also in the process of establishing skill universities, with consultations currently underway with stakeholders. Upon completion of courses at these universities, students will be awarded degree certificates.
Emphasizing the government's commitment to enhancing industry competitiveness through skilled manpower development, Chief Minister Reddy also disclosed plans to establish a Dry Port in the state.
C Shekar Reddy, Chairman of CII Telangana, highlighted the organization's role as a vital intermediary between the industry and the youth, promoting skill development initiatives. He noted that CII releases two annual reports, the India Skills Report and India Decoding Jobs, which offer valuable insights into the skilling and employment landscape.
