Telangana to Establish Sports University
The Telangana Government has announced plans to establish a new Sports University, named Young India Sports University, aimed at preparing students for prestigious global sporting events, including the Olympics. The university will be situated at the proposed 'Fourth City,' a development project endorsed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Chief Minister Reddy emphasized that the university will specialize in a wide range of sports, consolidating existing training institutes into a unified system to enhance the state’s sporting excellence. The goal is to create a comprehensive strategy for the state to excel in various international competitions.
In a recent review meeting, Reddy outlined the state’s ambition to host the Olympics and achieve success on the global stage. He urged officials to analyze successful sports training frameworks from around the world to identify the key factors contributing to Olympic success.
Reflecting on Telangana's past experiences hosting events like the Afro-Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, Reddy expressed a strong desire for the state to aspire towards hosting the Olympics and producing medal-winning athletes from the Sports University.
Additionally, Reddy directed the establishment of a sports school in each Lok Sabha constituency to foster a steady pipeline of talented athletes, ensuring widespread development and support for sports across the state.
