Telangana Seeks Approval for Greenfield Highway Project.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday to request approval for a new 12-lane greenfield highway. The proposed corridor would connect Bharat Future City, Hyderabad, to Bandar Port in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, passing through Amaravati.

Accompanied by state officials and MPs, the Chief Minister emphasized that the highway is crucial for Telangana’s economic growth, as the state is landlocked and requires better connectivity for the movement of goods. He argued that the project should be sanctioned under the State Reorganisation Act.

In addition to the highway, the Chief Minister also requested the sanctioning of ₹868 crore for CRIF (Central Road and Infrastructure Fund) road projects. According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Gadkari responded positively, assuring that these permissions would be granted within a week.

Gadkari also confirmed that officials would visit Hyderabad to assess the proposed highway corridor. A review meeting with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is scheduled for September 22.

The Chief Minister also urged Gadkari to immediately approve the start of work on the northern corridor of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), noting that 90% of the land acquisition for that section is complete. He also requested simultaneous approval for the southern corridor of the RRR.
