Telangana Government Approves ₹2,278 Crore Adilabad Airfield Project.

The Telangana government has accorded administrative approval for a ₹2,278 crore project to develop the Adilabad Joint User Airfield, marking a major infrastructure push for north Telangana.

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday said the airfield will be developed across 2,009 acres, with 1,609 acres allocated to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and 400 acres earmarked for a civil aviation enclave.

The civil aviation component will include a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, cargo terminal, aircraft hangars and provisions for future expansion, the minister said.

Venkat Reddy said the project is expected to serve as a strategic asset for Telangana by strengthening industrial growth, cargo connectivity, tourism, logistics and national defence capabilities. The development is also expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The administrative sanction includes provisions for key enabling works such as road realignment, shifting of 765 kV high-tension transmission lines, relocation of Mission Bhagiratha pipelines and other utility infrastructure required for smooth project execution.

The state government will bear the entire cost of land acquisition and relocation of utilities, the minister said.

He added that the district administration has been instructed to complete land acquisition and all utility shifting works by December 31, 2026, enabling early implementation of the project.

Highlighting the government’s focus on balanced regional development, Venkat Reddy said the Adilabad Joint User Airfield would be a transformative project for north Telangana, improving connectivity, attracting investments and supporting long-term economic growth in the region.
